Face sitting (or queening) is a powerful lesbian sex position where the person on top gets to ride their partner’s face, feeling both pleasure and control.

Lesbi honest about lesbian sex positions...

We’ve all seen those girl-on-girl scenes in movies and TV shows that leave us cringing. They rarely capture what lesbian sex is really like, right?

While there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to intimacy—because it’s all about what feels amazing for you and your partner—there are some fun and creative lesbian sex positions you might want to try to spice things up. Ready to dive in? Enjoy exploring!

1. Scissoring

Ah, the classic. Scissoring is probably the most recognized lesbian sex position, thanks to how often it pops up in mainstream media.

To get started, sit facing each other with your legs spread apart, then shimmy in close until your bodies and vulvas meet. From there, it’s all about moving in ways that feel incredible—grinding, pulsing, wiggling, whatever works for you! It’s a position that can make some of your sexual fantasies come to life.

Ways to spice it up:

  • Try rubbing your vulva or clit against your partner’s thigh for a new pleasurable experience

  • Add a soft bullet vibrator between your bodies and grind against it for an extra thrill and play on sensations.

  • You can experiment with sitting up (supporting each other’s back) or let one of you lie down for a different angle.

2. Yab Yum

In this intimate position, your partner sits on your lap with their ankles wrapped around your back. Yab Yum isn’t just about physical pleasureit’s a deeply connecting way to build intimacy making it especially fantastic for long-term relationships. As things heat up, you can add dry humping, genital stimulation, or even penetration with fingers or a toy to take it to the next level.

Ways to mix it up:

  • Let the partner being held rest their head on the other's shoulder for a soothing, chest-to-chest connection.

  • Move together, breathe deeply, grind, and explore each other with your hands.

  • Slip a vibrator between your bodies for extra stimulation while you move.

  • Try switching roles to see how it feels from both perspectives.

  • You can keep things interesting by experimenting with being clothed, in underwear, or fully naked—depending on what mood you're in.

3. 69

The Oral Position of Dreams! This position is a win-win! One partner lies back while the other climbs on top, facing the opposite direction, so you can both give and receive oral at the same time. It’s all about mutual pleasure, and it’s a total game-changer.

Ways to mix it up:

  • Add fingers or penetration to take things up a notch.

  • Try lying on your sides or use a pillow for some extra head support.

  • The partner on top can sit up and turn it into a face-sitting (or queening) session for a whole new experience.

4. Off the bed kneel

This one’s as simple as it is satisfying! One partner lies at the edge of the bed with legs wide open, while the other kneels to perform oral. It’s an easy setup, but it’s sure to bring big results.

Ways to mix it up:

  • Try it in front of a mirror for an amazing view.

  • Add penetration with fingers or a toy for extra stimulation.

  • Play with the dynamic—lie back and fully surrender or sit up and take control.

5. Face-sitting

Face sitting (or queening) is a powerful lesbian sex position where the person on top gets to ride their partner’s face, feeling both pleasure and control. Even if oral isn’t usually your favorite, this position can offer a totally new and hot sexual experience.

Since breathing is key here, it’s important to establish non-verbal cues or safe words—like a double tap on the leg if you need a break. Consent and safety come first, always.

Ways to mix it up:

  • Grind, bounce, or move your hips to get the exact stimulation you want.

  • Hum or moan into your partner’s body to heighten the sensations.

  • Try edging - Involves bringing your partner close to orgasm, then easing off on stimulation to build anticipation. Repeating this process can lead to a more intense final orgasm.

If edging is something you think you'd like to explore more of,  I recommend trying Game 9—Show and Tell Edging—in Pillow Play (my online sex and intimacy game for couples). It gives you a opportunity to intimately explore and teach each other what feels best, enhancing arousal and perfecting the technique of edging.

6. Fisting

While it might sound intimidating at first, fisting is actually a popular and deeply intimate experience for many couples. It’s intense, connective, and when done right, can be incredibly satisfying for both partners. Plus, people with vulvas tend to have smaller hands, making this more achievable compared to heterosexual couples.

Simply put, fisting involves inserting an entire hand into your partner’s vaginal canal for penetration. The key here is to start slow, use plenty of lube, and make sure the receiving partner is completely relaxed.

Communication is everything—take your time, check in often, and stop immediately if anything feels uncomfortable or painful. It’s all about what feels good for you!

7. Doggy-style

Doggy style is a classic position where one partner is on all fours while the other penetrates from behind, either vaginally or anally. You can use a strap-on, hands, or any hand-held toy to explore this position.

Just remember, hygiene is key—never go from anal to vaginal penetration without cleaning first. The bacteria in the anus can throw off your vaginal pH balance and increase the risk of infection.

To keep things safe, stick to one area per session or wash your toys, fingers, and hands before switching. Play safe and enjoy!

8. Reverse Cowgirl

In the reverse cowgirl position, one partner lies flat on the bed while the other sits on top, facing their partner’s feet. The penetrating partner can use fingers or a strap-on. This position is great for those who want a gentler touch on the G-spot, as it allows the person on top to control the speed, angle, and movement.

To get into position, try squatting upright on the balls of your feet and bouncing up and down, or get on your knees and lean forward slightly. Holding onto your partner’s legs for extra support can make grinding against them even more enjoyable.
